Dr. Dhar joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta in August 2016. Before joining the University of Alberta, he completed his Ph.D. studies at the University of Waterloo in June 2016.  His Ph.D. thesis focused on the characterization of biofilm conductivity and extracellular electron transport kinetics in microbial electrochemical cells.  Dr. Dhar has published articles in reputable journals such as ChemSusChem, Water Research, Environmental Science & Technology, Bioresource Technology, and Journal of Power Sources. He is the recipient of many awards, including NSERC PDF (declined), NSERC PGS-D3, University of Waterloo President’s Graduate Scholarship, Ontario Graduate Scholarship (declined), Philip H. Jones Award, Laurence Hamlin Memorial Award (for teaching), and Dr. M. Chandrashekar Memorial Award in Sustainable Energy. He holds professional memberships with Canadian Association on Water Quality (CAWQ), International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET), Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP), and International Water Association (IWA). Dr. Dhar is an active reviewer for many prestigious scholarly journals including Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Environmental Science & Technology, Bioresource Technology, Chemosphere, Chemical Engineering Journal,  Waste Management, etc.
